Please reach us at enquiries.urbanpets@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are limited to walking a maximum of six dogs at a time by our insurance policy provider. This limit is set in place to ensure maximum safety for both your dogs and ourselves.
Our dog walking services provide a comprehensive, customised experience designed to enrich your pets' day.
We begin by picking up your dog from their home, ensuring your dog is comfortably and most importantly, safely transported to our carefully chosen walking routes; curated for each dogs needs.
Your dog will then be dropped of home and put away safely, whether that be in a crate or room. You'll be sent a message or email with how our walk went with photos and anything interesting or funny that may have happened on our walk.
Our pet sitting services focus on in-home care, allowing pets to stay in their familiar environment whilst you're away. This approach reduces stress and anxiety, maintaining their usual routine, and provides personalised, one-on-one attention and care.
We find it best to schedule regular meet and greets before you leave, this helps them acclimate better when we begin our house sit with them.
We require an in-depth walkthrough your pets day-to-day routine, including anything else you would like us to maintain during your leave. You'll be given daily updates, photos and a diary of your pets' time with us.
We always strive to walk your dog regardless of the weather; however; due to the unpredictable nature of our lovely British weather, there may be times when we need to adjust or reschedule to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of your pet.
For colder weather, there is no set temperature limit, but road conditions play a significant role in determining the safety of our commute to your home.
In warmer weather, we are happy to walk dogs in temperatures up to 27°C.
For brachycephalic breeds and senior dogs, we offer shaded and shorter walks to ensure their comfort and safety.
Once temperatures exceed 28°C, walks will be suspended due to the risk of heat-related illnesses. In such cases, we can offer home visits and indoor enrichment.
Last year, we kept our clients' dogs cool with complimentary dog-friendly ice cream, ice lollies, and access to our doggy paddling pool!
Before allowing your dog off-lead, we will need to assess their recall, even with your permission. This is to ensure that your pet responds reliably and can be safely managed in an open environment without risk to other dogs nor wildlife.
Yes, our insurance fully covers us to walk your dog, in compliance with the current legislation surrounding XL Bullies.
Urban Pets does not discriminate against any breed, and we're happy to discuss your dog's individual needs!
No, Urban Pets does not offer pet boarding services. However, we can recommend reputable businesses within the area that facilitate dog boarding with the correct credentials and licensing.
This ultimately depends on where you're located, if you're located in Guildford, we usually walk our dogs somewhere below:
○ Stoke Park: 52 hectares, great for off-lead or long-line walks. Very popular amongst dog walkers, so not suitable for reactive dogs. Has plenty of shaded areas for warmer weather. GU1 1HB.
○ Merrow Downs: 154 hectares, great for off-lead and long-line walks. Very popular amongst dog walkers, so not suitable for reactive dogs. Not many shaded areas so we don't walk our dogs here unless the weather is cool enough. GU1 2HJ.
○ Park Lane Woods: Nestled away, this spot is great for dogs who enjoy quiet walks without interruption. Park Lane Woods has both woodland walks and open-field allowing the dogs to experience an abundance of smells and sounds. GU4 7EH.
○ Newlands Corner: 103 hectares, probably the most well-known walking spot in Surrey, Newlands Corner provides beautiful walks, ideal for long durations, under both shaded and open spaces. Very popular for dog walking, so dog must be comfortable with people, other dogs and other animals such as horses and wildlife.
Located in the beautiful countryside of West Horsley, Sheepleas offers an abundance of smells, as well as opportunities to see and play with other dogs - for this reason, we wouldn't recommend this for dogs who prefer their space!
We always make every effort to choose safe and appropriate locations for our walks. However, on occasion, unforeseen hazards may arise. In such cases, we proceed with caution and, if safe to do so, will remove any hazards to protect your dog.
If your dog sustains an injury during a walk, you will be notified immediately. From there, we will follow your guidance-whether that means ending the walk early or, in more serious cases, transporting them to the nearest vet.
We carry a First Aid kit at all times, including natural antiseptic (Hypochlorous), bandages, and tick removers. Our duty of care is something we take very seriously, and we are fully committed to taking every possible step to prevent and respond to incidents promptly and safely.
Urban Pets is not insured nor qualified in providing behavioural or training advice, we can however recommend our fantastic friend, Sue, at Mend My Dog:
Urban Pets stands for positive-techniques for any behavioural training and would not recommend anyone who didn't fit our standards and own beliefs - Sue is fantastic and her work is highly accredited by both clientele and her own rescue pup, Fizz!

As long as appropriate safety precautions are in place, we are happy to provide our services.
If your dog is reactive, particular about either men or women or, has a bite history, we require full disclosure before a consultation is booked with us.
For dogs who have a bite history or, are likely to bite other dogs or wildlife - we require that they wear a suitable muzzle - one that allows for panting and drinking comfortably during their walks (no mesh muzzles).
To minimise exposure to potential triggers, we may opt to walk them in quieter areas or at off-peak times. We also require face-to-face introductions in a neutral, non-territorial setting; this ensures a calm and positive first meeting for both you and your dog.
In some cases, if we feel that we are not the right fit for your dog's specific needs, we may decide it's best to end our contract and recommend another business if applicable.
Whilst we understand this may be disappointing, our goal is always to ensure the safety, comfortability and wellbeing of your dog, as well as ourselves.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
We're often asked about discounts, and while we completely understand the need to budget, we're unable to consistently offer reduced rates.
This business is our full-time livelihood, and in order to continue providing reliable, high-quality care, we must ensure our pricing reflects the time, commitment and costs involved.
We work seven days a week-often with overnight responsibilities-and our income goes toward essential expenses such as pet care supplies, business and vehicle insurance, and everyday living costs.
While we're always open to discussing cost under special circumstances, we hope our clients understand that sustainable pricing allows us to continue offering the dedicated, professional care Urban Pets is known for.
